Affirmations

What to do? Simply, listen and visualize yourself hitting great shots.

Mantra for the Day: Throughout the day say to yourself: “I’m always in the zone, I always hit the sweet spot!” and visualize success.

Sweet Spots Swings

Note: First club is a wedge, followed by a mid-iron, followed by a long-iron, then fairway wood, then driver.

What to do? Just watch along and feel as if you are hitting each of these shots. Feel it your body, feel the confidence. It’s start with short irons, to mid irons, to long irons, to woods, to driver, to putter, to sand.

Pro-tip 1: Do some of these throughout the day.

Pro-tip 2: On the course, feel 5 sweet spot swings before you hit!

Pro-tip 3: I try to feel the grip as I do this, and I might also imagine certain position I want to hit (e.g. having lag before impact)

Feel the Shot Tracer

What to do? I simply feel my swing while doing this, and almost feel “one” with the shot tracer. It sounds a little weird but if I have this shot tracer feel on the course, on the tee box, it gives me tons of confidence. Indeed, I try to remember this feeling when I’m playing. I’d watch the video 5 to 10 times in a row, for a total of 15 to 30 reps. Click here for a left handed swing (feel free to find other shot tracers with your swing pattern)

Visualize – 5 Minutes

What to do? Make it real! Use all your senses. Feel the grip in your hand, feel the ground in your feet, feel the air on your skin! Feel as if other players are there with you. See yourself from the outside, and then jump inside your own body. If you have a hard time visualizing your swing, just feel great contact! That is the key!

  1. Hit 10 drives in your mind
  2. Hit 10 mid irons
  3. Hit 10 long irons
  4. Hit 10 woods
  5. Hit 10 chips in your mind
  6. Hit 10 bunker shots in your mind
  7. Hit 5 short putts, 5 middle length putts, 5 lag putts
  8. Play the hardest hole you know, and see yourself birdie it

Pro-tip: Competitive or professional players, should play the entire course in their mind.

Pro-tip: Take a few minutes to see yourself hitting out of trouble or hitting tough shots. For example, long rough, tough lies into the grain, over a bunker, around a tree, awkward stances, etc.

Pro-tip: You can also see the hardest shots you have to hit on a particular course. For instance, there might be a really tough drive on holes 5 and 11, and then a tough approach shot on hole 14, and a tough green on 18. If you are short on time, play the hardest shots in your mind.
